contractwerk

Contractwerk is a Dutch-language term for work carried out under a contract by an external contractor for a client. It is used across sectors such as construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, and services, and is often contrasted with work performed in-house or by the client’s own staff. In a contractwerk arrangement, the client or principal defines a scope of work, deliverables, schedule, price, and quality requirements. The contractor executes the work and bears responsibility for its completion, conformance to specifications, safety, and compliance with applicable laws. The contract typically includes provisions on change management, risk allocation, warranties, liability, insurance, and remedies for non-performance.

Common forms include construction or execution contracts, design-and-build contracts, turnkey contracts, and subcontracting arrangements. Pricing may
