compusimos

Compusimos is the first-person plural form of the Spanish verb componer in the pretérito indefinido (simple past). It expresses a completed action in the past and translates as “we composed” or “we put together.” The verb componer means to form, assemble, or create by combining parts, and it is also used for producing musical or literary works.

Etymology and morphology: componer comes from Latin componere, itself from con- (together) and ponere (to place). In the preterite tense, componer is irregular: the stem becomes compus- and the standard endings are added, yielding compusimos for the first-person plural. Other preterite forms include compuse, compusiste, compuso, compusisteis, and compusieron. The present tense has the regular form componemos (we compose).

Usage: Compusimos is used to describe actions completed at a definite point in the past. It is common in narrative prose and can appear in contexts such as music, writing, or assembling parts. It contrasts with hemos compuesto (present perfect) when the speaker intends to emphasize current relevance, and with componemos (present) for ongoing or general actions.
