Coherenties is the Dutch plural form of coherentie, a concept used across disciplines to denote a property in which different parts of a system fit together in a consistent, mutually reinforcing way. The root coherentie comes from Latin cohaerentia and from French coherence, and in Dutch it is commonly used to describe both physical and abstract forms of connectedness.

In physics, coherenties refer to situations where the phases of different states are well defined relative to one another, enabling interference effects. Quantum coherence, a central idea in quantum mechanics, underpins phenomena such as superposition and interference patterns; coherence time and coherence length quantify how long or how far this ordered phase relation persists. In optics, spatial and temporal coherence describe the predictability of the phase of light, with lasers representing highly coherent sources. In condensed matter, coherence underlies superconductivity and Bose–Einstein condensation.

In linguistics and cognitive science, coherence describes the logical and semantic connection of parts of a text or discourse, contributing to perceived meaning and unity. In information technology and computer science, data or memory coherence refers to consistency across multiple copies or caches, ensuring that updates are reflected system-wide. In signal processing, coherence measures the degree of correlation between signals over time, used in fields such as communications and imaging.
