Ciliaon is a genus of single-celled, free-living protists classified within the phylum Ciliophora. These microorganisms are characterized by their numerous hair-like structures called cilia, which cover their cell surface. The cilia are used primarily for locomotion and feeding, allowing Ciliaon to navigate aquatic environments and capture food particles.

Typically, Ciliaon species thrive in freshwater habitats, although some have been found in brackish or marine environments. They exhibit a variety of forms, ranging from elongated to more rounded shapes, with the cilia arranged in specific patterns that aid in movement and feeding behavior.
