Chromosomowy is an adjective in Polish that relates to chromosomes, the cellular structures that house genetic material. In scientific usage, it describes phenomena, analyses, and characteristics that pertain to chromosomes rather than to genes in isolation or to the genome as a whole.

In biology and medicine, chromosomowy refers to numerical or structural changes in chromosomes. Numerical abnormalities include aneuploidy such as trisomy or monosomy; structural abnormalities include deletions, duplications, inversions, and translocations. Examples include Down syndrome (trisomy 21), Turner syndrome (monosomy X), and Klinefelter syndrome (XXY). In oncology, chromosomal instability and rearrangements are common features of many cancers.

Diagnostic and research methods for chromosomowy assessment include cytogenetic techniques: karyotyping to visualize chromosomes under a microscope; fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH); array comparative genomic hybridization (array-CGH); and, in some contexts, next-generation sequencing. Prenatal testing uses chromosomal analyses to detect anomalies in fetuses. In Polish terminology, phrases such as anomalie chromosomowe or aberracje chromosomowe are common.

Beyond humans, chromosomowy concepts apply across species; chromosome number and structure vary widely and influence development and evolution.
