For instance, chondrocytes can be seeded onto scaffolds made of biocompatible materials, which provide a structural framework for the cells to grow and form new cartilage tissue. Additionally, growth factors can be incorporated into these scaffolds to further stimulate chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation.

Chondrocyte-based therapies hold significant potential for the treatment of cartilage defects and diseases. However, challenges such as ensuring the long-term stability of the repaired cartilage and minimizing the risk of hypertrophy and fibrosis need to be addressed.
