Canalithrelated refers to conditions or symptoms associated with the presence of otoconia, also known as "ear crystals" or canaliths, within the semicircular canals of the inner ear. These microscopic calcium carbonate crystals normally reside in the utricle and saccule, which are responsible for detecting gravity and linear acceleration. When these otoconia become dislodged and migrate into the semicircular canals, they can interfere with the normal function of the vestibular system, leading to specific symptoms.
