Bågningsprofiler, often translated as camber profiles or airfoil shapes, are specific cross-sectional geometries used primarily in the design of wings for aircraft and in hydrofoils for boats. These profiles are meticulously engineered to generate lift when moving through a fluid, such as air or water. The characteristic asymmetry of a bågningsprofil, where the upper surface is typically more curved than the lower surface, is crucial to its aerodynamic or hydrodynamic function.

When fluid flows over a bågningsprofil, the air or water traveling over the longer, curved upper surface must accelerate and travel a greater distance than the fluid flowing along the flatter lower surface. According to Bernoulli's principle, this increased velocity results in lower pressure on the upper surface compared to the higher pressure on the lower surface.
