Bärlinor is a fictional term used in speculative biology and worldbuilding to describe a genus of bioluminescent, lichen-like organisms found in boreal and temperate forests of the imagined world of Eldara. The name is used in scholarly and popular writings within that setting to refer to the same group of organisms.

Bärlinor form flat to slightly domed mats on bark or rotting wood. Patches range from a few centimeters to decimeters across. The thallus consists of a photosynthetic partner and a fungal partner in mutualism, with radiating filaments that glow faintly at night. The luminescence is produced by bioluminescent bacteria in a superficial layer and is most intense in cool, damp conditions.

They grow slowly and act as pioneer organisms on disturbed substrates, contributing to microhabitat formation. Reproduction occurs mainly by fragmentation, with fragments capable of establishing new patches. Dispersal is aided by wind and small animals that brush against the mats.

In Eldaran folklore, bärlinor are associated with guidance through forests and are sometimes used as natural lanterns.
