broadland
Broadland is a term used for broad, low-lying wetland landscapes in eastern England, as well as for an administrative district in Norfolk. Geographically, Broadland describes a landscape of rivers, shallow lakes known as broads, extensive reedbeds, and marshy margins. This wetland complex spans parts of Norfolk and Suffolk and is notable for its waterways, wetlands, and the characteristic open, aquatic scenery. Much of the landscape has its origins in medieval peat digging and subsequent drainage and water-management works that created basins and channels now used for navigation and biodiversity. The Norfolk Broads, the best-known component of Broadland, comprise a network of navigable rivers and lakes that support boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing.
Ecology and conservation are central to Broadland. The wetlands host diverse flora and fauna, including wintering
Administrative use: Broadland is also the name of a local government district in Norfolk, England. Named after
