bocourti
Bocourt is a genus of iguanid lizards native to Central America. The genus is named in honor of the French naturalist Marie Firmin Bocourt. The most well-known species is Bocourti's anole, also known as Bocourt's lizard. These lizards are arboreal, meaning they live in trees, and are typically found in the rainforest canopy. They are insectivorous, feeding on a diet of insects and other small invertebrates. Bocourt's anole is known for its striking coloration, often featuring vibrant greens and blues, with males displaying a prominent dewlap. Sexual dimorphism is present, with males being larger and more colorful than females. The genus Bocourtii is monotypic, containing only one species, Bocourti's anole.
