However, the production and use of bioplastics also raise concerns. Some critics argue that large-scale cultivation of biomass crops for bioplastics can compete with food production, leading to land use changes and impacts on biodiversity. Additionally, the availability and cost of feedstocks can affect the feasibility of bioplastics production.

Research and development of bioplastics are ongoing, aiming to address these concerns and improve their performance, affordability, and environmental sustainability. As the production and use of bioplastics continue to grow, their potential to alleviate environmental pressures and offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics remains a topic of interest and debate.
