biaymite
Biaymite is a mineral that belongs to the phosphate group. It is chemically known as beryllium aluminum phosphate. The chemical formula for biaymite is Be3Al2(PO4)2(OH)2. It is a rare mineral, often found in pegmatites, which are igneous rocks with very large crystals. Biaymite typically occurs in association with other beryllium-bearing minerals and phosphates. Its crystal system is monoclinic. The typical appearance of biaymite is as small, prismatic crystals. The color can range from colorless to white or pale yellow. It is relatively hard, with a Mohs hardness of around 6 to 7. The specific gravity of biaymite is approximately 2.7. It is not a commercially significant mineral due to its rarity and small crystal sizes. Biaymite was first described in 1978 from specimens found in the Volodarsk-Volynskii pegmatite field in Ukraine. While its occurrence is limited, it is of interest to mineralogists and collectors of rare minerals.
