bensinrike

Bensinrike is a former municipality in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. It was located in the region of Trøndelag and had a population of 1,847 people in 2004. The administrative center of the municipality was the village of Leknes.

Bensinrike was situated in the southern part of Sør-Trøndelag county, bordering the municipalities of Åfjord to the north, Hemne to the west, and Meldal to the south. The municipality was largely rural, with agriculture and forestry being the main industries.

The name Bensinrike is derived from the Old Norse words "benn", meaning "forest", and "ske", meaning " ridge" or "zone". This refers to the municipality's location in a forested area.

Bensinrike was incorporated into the existing municipality of Meldal in 2005, as part of a broader municipal reform that aimed to reduce the number of municipalities in Norway. The incorporation was the result of a decision by the Norwegian government to merge smaller municipalities with neighboring ones.

Prior to its incorporation into Meldal, Bensinrike had a mayor and a municipal council that governed the local affairs. The municipality had a total area of 298 km², of which 282 km² was land and 16 km² was water.
