Benarbenar is a colloquial form found in Indonesian online and informal writing. It functions as an emphatic adverb meaning “really” or “truly,” similar in meaning to the standard term benar-benar, but it appears without the hyphen and is not generally accepted in formal writing.

Etymology and orthography are informal. The standard spelling is benar-benar, a combination of benar (true) and the intensifying element -nya/-benar in a printed form. In casual digital text, writers sometimes write benarbenar as a single word, reflecting orthographic simplification in rapid communication. Because benarbenar is not part of formal dictionaries, its use is restricted mainly to informal contexts such as social media, chats, memes, and casual messaging.

Usage and examples. Benarbenar is used to precede adjectives or verbs to heighten emphasis: for example, “Saya benarbenar capek” (I am really tired) or “Dia benarbenar pandai” (He is truly skilled). It can convey positive or negative intensity, depending on the context, much like synonyms such as sangat or amat, but it often carries a stronger, more colloquial tone.
