Łazienki Park, commonly known as Łazienki Królewskie (Royal Baths), is a historic palace and public park in Warsaw, Poland. It lies in the city’s central district and is the largest park in the area, spanning roughly 80 hectares. The grounds combine formal geometrical layouts with rolling lawns, lakes, and woodland, reflecting English landscape garden influences.

History and development: The site traces to the 17th century as a royal bath complex and garden. In the 18th century it was expanded into a decorative residence by the Polish monarchy, particularly during the reign of King Stanisław II August Poniatowski, who transformed it into a grand neoclassical palace and park.

Key features and buildings: The Palace on the Isle (Pałac na Wyspie) is the centerpiece, set on an artificial island and linked by a marble bridge. Other notable structures include the White House (Biały Domek), the Old Orangery (Stara Orangarnia), and the New Orangery; an open-air theatre and the Amphitheatre, as well as a grand canal with several bridges. The park also contains numerous sculptures and the Chopin Monument, a popular focal point for summer concerts.

Public use and heritage: Today, Łazienki Park is a major cultural and recreational site, hosting concerts, exhibitions, and museum spaces. The Palace on the Isle houses a museum focused on the park’s history and art collections, while much of the grounds are accessible to visitors free of charge.
