Astmelt is an informal term used in materials science to describe a methodology for evaluating the melting behavior of materials by applying concepts derived from ASTM thermal-analysis standards. It is not an official designation of any ASTM committee or standard.

In practice, astmelt-based assessments combine controlled heating experiments with calorimetric or thermal analysis techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) or differential thermal analysis (DTA). The objective is to determine key melting properties, including the onset of melting (Tonset), the peak melting temperature (Tm), and the enthalpy of fusion (ΔHf).
