Aspectspecific is a term used to describe properties, analyses, or design decisions that apply to a particular aspect within a multi-aspect system. The word is a portmanteau of aspect and specific and is used across disciplines to note that certain features are not universal but constrained to a defined facet such as usability, performance, or temporal interpretation.

In linguistics, aspect-specific readings refer to verbs or constructions whose interpretation changes with aspect choices (for example, perfective versus imperfective). In software engineering, aspect-specific modules or guidance apply to cross-cutting concerns linked to a designated aspect of the system, such as logging or security, rather than the core business logic. In data analysis, aspect-specific metrics measure performance or quality within a given aspect of a product, project, or process rather than being aggregated across all aspects.

Examples include: a logging framework that provides aspect-specific log levels for error handling, or a usability study that reports aspect-specific usability scores for navigation versus content readability. Notes: the term is not widely standardized and may be described differently in the literature; it is often used informally to distinguish facet-focused analyses from holistic approaches.
