arvolinjan
Arvolinjan is a Finnish term meaning "the value line." It is formed from arvo (value) and linja (line). In Finnish-language texts on data visualization, arvolinjan is used to refer to the line or axis that encodes numerical values in a graph or chart. In this sense it is similar to what in English is called the value axis or value scale. Depending on the author, arvolinjan may denote either the primary value axis (the line along which data values are plotted) or a horizontal or vertical guideline that marks a specific value on the scale. Some writers reserve the term for an actual reference line indicating a threshold, target, or benchmark, while others treat it more generally as the axis containing the numbers.
Origin and usage: Arvolinjan appears in contemporary Finnish technical writing, textbooks, and online tutorials about data
