Apolaariset refers to molecules that have no net electrical dipole moment. This occurs when the individual bond dipoles within a molecule either cancel each other out due to symmetry or when the bonds themselves are nonpolar. Nonpolar bonds are formed between atoms with similar electronegativities, meaning they share electrons relatively equally. Common examples of nonpolar bonds include those between identical atoms, such as in O2 or Cl2, or between carbon and hydrogen atoms, as found in many organic compounds like methane (CH4).
