Etymology of the name combines anti- (opposite) with plate and litho (stone), with the suffix -ito common to mineral terms, signaling a mineral with opposing plate orientations in its structure.

In this conceptual view, antiplatelethoito would be a layered phyllosilicate consisting of two-dimensional tetrahedral-octahedral sheets, with adjacent platelets oriented antiparallel to one another. The arrangement aims to highlight how interlayer bonding, sheet tilt, and platelet alignment can influence anisotropy, cleavage, and optical properties.
