Anasi refers to a group of related plant species in the genus *Ananas*, most famously the pineapple (*Ananas comosus*). The genus Ananas is native to South America, primarily in the region of Brazil and Paraguay. These plants are herbaceous perennial flowering plants belonging to the bromeliad family, Bromeliaceae. They are characterized by their fleshy, spiny leaves arranged in a rosette, from which a central stalk emerges bearing a multiple fruit.
