amplichino

Amplichino is a mountain in the Ortles mountain group of the Ortles Alps in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Italy. It has an elevation of 3,337 meters (10,948 feet) and is considered a minor peak in the range.

The mountain is located near the Passa del Tonale and the Lagh, Studi Montanini (an alpine pasture), between the Ortles and the Bernina groups. The main ridge of the Ortles extends to the south towards the Cima Trapai mountain. The slope of Amplichino is traversed by a high-altitude path that connects the settlement of Rabbi to the plateau of Baito (Plateau dell'Ortles), at an altitude of 2,963 meters, where there are also lodges and mountain huts.

The peak is not considered particularly difficult to climb. However, due to the complex nature of the terrain, death was reported once and there were other casualties, although there are no fairly reliable records of the event.

The mountain environment consists of dolomitic and gneissic rocks for the bulk of the mountain, with ogives of a relatively deep water level. To the north and northeast lie the plateaus, such as that of Campo, which begins at 2,600 meters (8,500 feet), similar to "Cazzanego", a lake surrounded by numerous huts.
