altisteille
Altisteille is a Finnish term used in music notation to indicate the group of performers designated as altos. Grammatically, it is the allative form of altisti (altoist), literally meaning “to the altoists” or “for the altoists.” In scores and rehearsal notes, altisteille functions as a heading or directive that directs attention or assignment to the alto section.
In choral music, altos are the lower female voice range, typically positioned below sopranos and above tenors.
