The mayor, with the approval of the képviselő-testület (municipal assembly), appoints one or more alpolgármesterek from among council members. Deputy mayors have authority to act on behalf of the mayor within the scope of the delegated tasks. They also step in for the mayor during absences, ensuring continuity of governance and public administration.
