alküültriflaat
Alkyl triflates are a class of organic compounds with the general formula R-OSO2CF3, where R is an alkyl group and CF3SO2- is the trifluoromethanesulfonyl group, commonly known as the triflate group. They are esters of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and alcohols. Alkyl triflates are known for being excellent leaving groups in nucleophilic substitution reactions due to the high stability of the triflate anion, CF3SO3-. This stability arises from the electron-withdrawing nature of the three fluorine atoms on the trifluoromethyl group, which effectively delocalizes the negative charge across the sulfonyl group.
The synthesis of alkyl triflates typically involves the reaction of an alcohol with trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride ((CF3SO2)2O)
Due to the excellent leaving group ability of the triflate moiety, alkyl triflates are highly reactive electrophiles.
