Afwerkleidingen are short electrical conductors used during the finishing phase of electrical installations or product assembly to complete connections, enable testing, and provide accessible test points. They typically consist of a copper conductor with insulating material such as PVC, rubber, or silicone, and are terminated with lugs, spade connectors, pins, or ring terminals. The insulation and terminations are chosen to suit the operating voltage, current, and environmental conditions, and color coding is often used to indicate function (for example power, signal, or earth).

In practice, afwerkleidingen are employed in control panels, machine wiring, prototypes, and test setups. They allow technicians to measure voltages, inject test signals, or temporarily route connections without disturbing the permanent wiring. Depending on the design and lifecycle of the product, these leads may be kept in place as part of the final assembly or removed after testing if they are not required for ongoing service.
