Contracts or delivery terms define who bears responsibility for transport, insurance, and costs, and when risk passes from seller to buyer. The moment of delivery can be defined differently in different agreements, for example on receipt of goods by the buyer, upon arrival at a designated location, or when the buyer signs for delivery. In real estate and other asset transfers, afhending refers to the handover of possession from seller to buyer, typically at closing.
