Afhendingar

Afhendingar (delivery/hand-over) is the act of transferring custody or possession of goods or assets from one party to another. The term encompasses both the physical handover and the legal consequences that follow, such as the transfer of risk or title as set out in a contract.

In commerce and logistics, afhendingar are a core part of order fulfillment. Contracts or delivery terms define who bears responsibility for transport, insurance, and costs, and when risk passes from seller to buyer. The moment of delivery can be defined differently in different agreements, for example on receipt of goods by the buyer, upon arrival at a designated location, or when the buyer signs for delivery. Delivery is usually documented with a delivery note or proof of delivery, and the recipient may inspect the goods and notify the seller of any defects or discrepancies.

In real estate and other asset transfers, afhending refers to the handover of possession from seller to buyer, typically at closing. This involves delivery of keys, transfer of documents such as deeds, and confirmation that the property or asset is being delivered free of encumbrances, or that any agreed-upon fixtures are included.

Legal and practical considerations include the allocation of risk, the conditions for acceptance, and remedies for non-delivery or defective delivery. Documentation and clear agreements help prevent disputes and clarify the timeline and responsibilities of each party.
