abec
ABEC is a standard used to specify the tolerances and precision of ball bearings. The term originates from the Annular Bearing Engineering Committee, a body under the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA). The ABEC standard applies to precision bearings and defines allowable variations in dimensions and geometry, including aspects such as bore and outer diameter runout and the concentricity of the rings. It does not, by itself, prescribe lubrication, materials, or overall performance characteristics.
Bearings are graded on a series of ABEC levels: ABEC 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Higher
In consumer products, ABEC ratings are commonly seen on skateboard and inline skate bearings, among other consumer
Other bearing standards exist, such as ISO and JIS, and manufacturers may use different testing regimes. ABEC
