Zinkbad

Zinkbad is a fictional town and administrative center of the province of Dalen in the Republic of Veridia. It is known for its geothermal springs and zinc-smelting industry. The name is derived from local roots meaning "zinc bath," a reference to the spa heritage that shaped the town.

The town sits in the Lumen Valley along the Sore River, covering a compact area. The population is in the several-thousand range. The economy blends spa tourism, mineral processing, and light manufacturing, with a preserved historic district of bathhouses and early factory façades.

Founded in the 12th century by prospectors migrating from the northern highlands, Zinkbad grew around geothermal springs and later expanded with zinc works. The 17th- and 18th-century expansions solidified its role in regional industry, while 20th-century reforms emphasized modernization and heritage preservation.

The Zinkbad Baths remain a centerpiece, along with the Zinc Gate, an 18th-century portal, and the Veridia Museum of Industry. Zinkfest is an annual festival that celebrates mineral heritage, spa culture, and crafts.

It is served by a regional railway network and a local ring road. A small technical college offers programs in materials science and hospitality management.
