Ziggo is a Dutch telecommunications brand that provides cable television, high-speed broadband internet, and fixed-line telephone services in the Netherlands. It operates as the consumer-facing brand of VodafoneZiggo, the Dutch joint venture between Vodafone Group and Liberty Global.

Ziggo’s origins lie in the consolidation of several regional cable networks in the Netherlands, including Casema and Multikabel, which were unified under a single brand to offer standardized fixed services. In 2017, Vodafone Group and Liberty Global formed VodafoneZiggo to integrate fixed-line infrastructure with Vodafone’s mobile network in the Netherlands, creating a combined fixed and mobile services provider.

Ownership of VodafoneZiggo evolved when Vodafone Group completed the purchase of Liberty Global’s stake in the venture in 2022, making Vodafone the sole owner. The Ziggo brand continues to operate as the fixed-line consumer brand within VodafoneZiggo.

Services and technology: Ziggo offers triple-play bundles that include digital television, broadband internet, and fixed-line telephone services. It operates the Ziggo GO streaming app and provides on-demand content and Ziggo Sport channels. The network relies on a DOCSIS-based hybrid fiber-coax system, delivering speeds ranging from hundreds of megabits per second to multi-gigabit rates in many areas.

Market presence: Ziggo is the largest fixed broadband and pay-TV provider in the Netherlands and serves millions of households. Its infrastructure and services are central to Dutch home entertainment and communications, complementing Vodafone’s mobile network within the VodafoneZiggo framework.
