Ziehvorgängskonzept

Ziehvorgängskonzept, often translated as "pull process concept" or "pull system," is a manufacturing and logistics strategy that emphasizes producing goods only when they are needed by the next step in the process or by the customer. This contrasts with traditional "push systems," where production is based on forecasts and goods are pushed down the supply chain regardless of actual demand. The core principle of a pull system is to synchronize production with actual consumption, thereby minimizing inventory, reducing waste, and improving responsiveness.

In a pull system, the signal for production or replenishment is triggered by demand from the downstream process. This signal can take various forms, such as a Kanban card, an empty container, or an electronic signal. When this signal is received, the upstream process is activated to produce or deliver the exact quantity required. This creates a continuous flow of materials and information, where each stage pulls from the previous one only what it needs.
