Zephyrwood

Zephyrwood is a town in the Zephyr Valley, located in the northern part of the state. It sits along the Silver River and is ringed by the Alder Ridge. The name derives from the light, persistent winds and the extensive woodlands that characterize the area.

The climate is temperate, with moderately warm summers and cold winters. Precipitation averages around 1,000 millimeters annually, with frequent westerly winds that contribute to the local forestry and energy sectors.

The settlement was founded in 1832 by migrants from the coastal regions and grew around river trade, milling, and timber. Zephyrwood was incorporated as a municipality in 1867 and developed a diversified economy that included agriculture and small manufacturing.

The local economy centers on forestry, orchard farming, and light manufacturing. The nearby Windcrest Wind Farm contributes to regional renewable energy. Zephyrwood is served by a regional rail line and two major highways; the town hosts a small industrial park and a hospital.

The town supports a public library, Zephyrwood High School, and a community college extension. The annual Windfall Festival showcases crafts, music, and wind-energy exhibits, drawing visitors from neighboring communities.
