The term combines the verbs *zdawać* (to deliver, hand over) and *odbierać* (to receive), reflecting a dual operation in which one party transfers responsibility for an item while the other formally acknowledges its acceptance.

In contractual law, a zdawczoodbiorczy protocol (often called a “protocol of delivery and acceptance”) serves as evidence that the contracted object has been transferred in the agreed condition.
