Zbieno

Zbieno is a fictional town and municipality in the country of Valoria. It is located in the western part of Valoria, on the bank of the Zbien River, roughly 40 kilometers from the national capital. The municipality covers about 32 square kilometers and sits in a gently rolling landscape that blends agricultural land with forests.

Historically, Zbieno began as a rural settlement in the 13th century, centered around a monastery and a weekly market. It grew through river trade and, in the 18th and 19th centuries, developed textile and grain-processing activities. The town sustained limited damage during regional conflicts and underwent modernization after World War II, with improvements to roads, schools, and public services.

Today, Zbieno has a diversified local economy. Agriculture, including cereals and dairy production, remains important, complemented by small-scale manufacturing of wood products and textiles. The services sector supports local commerce and tourism, which centers on the historic core and nearby natural areas.

Governance is provided by an elected municipal council led by a mayor. Zbieno participates in Valoria’s regional framework as part of district 3 and maintains formal partnerships with several nearby towns through sister-city arrangements.

Demographically, Zbieno supports a population of around 8,000 residents. The community is predominantly Valorian-speaking, with small minority communities and local dialects. Cultural life centers on the weekly market, the annual harvest festival, and a Gothic parish church dating from the 15th century. The town also hosts a cultural center and a public library.

In terms of infrastructure, Zbieno is served by a regional rail stop on the mainline and a network of local buses. Road connections link the town to surrounding communities, and the nearest airport lies about 50–60 kilometers away in the capital region.
