Yksiraitaäänityksessä

Yksiraitaäänityksessä, often translated as "single-track recording" or "monophonic recording," refers to the method of capturing and reproducing sound using a single channel. This means that all the sound information is combined into one signal, which is then played back through a single speaker or a matched pair of speakers. Historically, this was the dominant recording technology before the advent of stereophonic sound.

In a yksiraitaäänityksessä, all instruments, vocals, and ambient sounds are mixed together into a single audio stream. This stream carries all the sonic information without any spatial differentiation. When played back, the listener perceives the sound as originating from a single point in space, regardless of how many individual sound sources were present during recording. The simplicity of monophonic recording also meant it was easier to produce and reproduce, contributing to its widespread adoption.
