Yksifaasis
Yksifaasis is a term originating from Finnish that translates to "single-phase". In electrical engineering, it commonly refers to a single-phase electrical power system. This is the type of alternating current (AC) power distribution system that is commonly used in homes and small businesses. A single-phase system typically involves two wires: one carrying the current and the other serving as a return path. The voltage in a single-phase system fluctuates sinusoidally. This is in contrast to three-phase systems, which are used for heavier loads like industrial machinery and large buildings, and involve three separate AC currents that are out of phase with each other. The simplicity and lower cost of single-phase systems make them suitable for most residential and light commercial applications. Appliances and devices designed for home use are generally powered by single-phase electricity. The term "yksifaasis" would be used in a Finnish context to describe such a system.
