Yhdistelmäruuvi

A yhdistelmäruuvi, commonly known as a combination screw or self-tapping screw, is a type of fastener designed to create its own thread in a softer material, such as wood, plastic, or metal, without requiring a pre-drilled hole. These screws are widely used in construction, woodworking, and DIY projects due to their versatility and ease of use.

The term *yhdistelmäruuvi* originates from Finnish, where *yhdistelmä* means "combination" and *ruuvi* means "screw." The screw typically features a sharp, pointed tip and a threaded shank that tapers to a fine point. The threads are designed to cut into the material as the screw is driven in, ensuring a secure hold.
