Yhdistelmävedoissa

Yhdistelmävedoissa is a Finnish term that translates to "combination shots" or "combined lifts" in English. It is most commonly used in the context of Olympic weightlifting. In this sport, a competition consists of two distinct lifts: the snatch and the clean and jerk. The yhdistelmävedoissa refers to the total score achieved by successfully completing both of these lifts.

The snatch is a single, continuous movement where the barbell is lifted from the floor to an overhead position in one motion. The clean and jerk is a two-part lift. First, the barbell is lifted from the floor to the shoulders (the clean), and then it is lifted from the shoulders to an overhead position (the jerk). Athletes are allowed three attempts at each lift.

The weight lifted in the snatch and the weight lifted in the clean and jerk are added together to determine the athlete's yhdistelmävedoissa. This total is the primary measure of success in Olympic weightlifting competitions. Athletes are ranked based on their total combined weight lifted. If two athletes lift the same total weight, the athlete with the lower body weight is typically ranked higher. The goal for any weightlifter is to maximize their performance in both the snatch and the clean and jerk to achieve the highest possible yhdistelmävedoissa.
