Yhdistelmäöljyt

Yhdistelmäöljyt, known in English as blend oils or combination oils, refer to lubricating oils that are manufactured by mixing two or more different types of base oils. These base oils can include mineral oils, synthetic oils, or even vegetable oils. The primary purpose of creating a blend is to leverage the distinct properties of each base oil to achieve a final product with superior performance characteristics than any single base oil could offer on its own.

The composition of a yhdistelmäöljy is carefully formulated to meet specific application requirements. For instance, a blend might combine the cost-effectiveness and good solvency of mineral oil with the superior thermal stability and low volatility of a synthetic base oil like PAO (polyalphaolefin) or an ester. This allows for a lubricant that can operate effectively over a wider temperature range, offers better protection against wear, and extends drain intervals. Additives are also crucial components of these blends, further enhancing properties such as detergency, dispersancy, anti-wear, and corrosion inhibition.

Applications for yhdistelmäöljyt are diverse, ranging from automotive engine oils and industrial gearboxes to hydraulic systems and specialty lubricants. The ability to tailor the blend's properties makes them a versatile solution for many lubrication challenges where a single type of base oil might be insufficient.
