Ydinreaktorilähteet refers to the components within a nuclear reactor that contain and are responsible for initiating and sustaining nuclear fission. These are the heart of the reactor, where controlled nuclear chain reactions produce heat. The primary source material within a ydinreaktorilähde is the nuclear fuel, typically enriched uranium or plutonium, arranged in fuel assemblies. These assemblies are carefully designed to ensure optimal neutron moderation, heat transfer, and control of the fission process.
Surrounding the fuel, control rods made of neutron-absorbing materials like cadmium or boron are strategically placed.
The entire ydinreaktorilähde is housed within a robust pressure vessel, designed to withstand high temperatures and
