Yargsal

Yargsal is a constructed language designed for worldbuilding, speculative fiction, and conlang communities. It is presented as the native tongue of the inhabitants of the fictional archipelago of Yargos in a speculative world. Since its emergence, it has been described and developed in various community resources, dictionaries, and grammars, with no single authoritative standard.

Phonology: The language's phonemic inventory includes about 25 consonants and five vowels: a, e, i, o, u. It features vowel harmony in suffix vowels and a preference for open syllables. Consonants commonly used are p, t, k, b, d, g, f, s, z, m, n, r, l, w, y; nasals and approximants appear as well.

Orthography: Yargsal is typically written with a Latin-based script, optionally augmented by diacritics to mark vowel height and stress. In some materials, a separate syllabary named the Yarga script is provided for ceremonial or pedagogical use.

Grammar: Core syntax is SVO. The language favors analytic morphology, with limited inflection. Nouns form plurals with the suffix -n or via a plural particle. Verbs encode tense and aspect with affixes; evidential mood is marked to indicate source of information. Adjectives tend to follow the nouns they modify and agree in number with the noun phrase.

Usage and reception: Yargsal appears in worldbuilding projects, tabletop campaigns, and fan-driven linguistics resources. Learners and creators use brief grammars, phrase lists, and sample dialogues to explore its structure and expressive range.
