Xagra

Xagra is a coastal city-state and the capital of the Xagran Confederacy, located on the northern shore of the archipelago of Sykara. It serves as a major hub for trade, shipping, and culture in the region. The city has an estimated population of about 165,000 and encompasses waterfront districts, hills, and surrounding villages. Xagra developed around a natural harbor that has long sheltered regional sea routes. The climate is temperate, with dry summers and mild winters.

Historically, Xagra began as a fishing village and grew through maritime trade in the medieval era. It gained prominence as a free port in the 14th century and joined the Xagran Confederacy in the 17th. Following reforms in the 19th and 20th centuries, Xagra gained substantial autonomy within the federation and remains the political and economic core of the region.

The economy is diversified, anchored by shipping and logistics, fish processing, and light manufacturing. The Grand Bazaar and Port District form the commercial center, while education and research are supported by the University of Xagra and the Institute of Maritime Studies.

Culturally, Xagra hosts the annual Tide Festival, with maritime processions and crafts markets. Notable landmarks include the Cape Lighthouse, the ancient stone amphitheater, and the Yara River Promenade. The city is served by Xagra International Airport and by ferries and rail connections to nearby ports.
