WorldView2
WorldView2 is a commercial remote sensing satellite owned and operated by Maxar Technologies. Launched on October 8, 2009, it was the first high-resolution satellite to offer multispectral imagery with an eight-band sensor. This sensor allows for the collection of data in the visible and near-infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum, enabling more detailed analysis of Earth's surface. WorldView2 has a ground resolution of 0.46 meters for panchromatic imagery and 1.84 meters for multispectral imagery. Its agility allows it to collect imagery of specific locations quickly and frequently, making it valuable for various applications. The satellite orbits the Earth at an altitude of approximately 770 kilometers. WorldView2's data is used in fields such as environmental monitoring, urban planning, disaster management, agriculture, and defense. It was succeeded by WorldView3 and subsequent satellites in Maxar's constellation.
