Woodends

Woodends is a neighborhood in the southern sector of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated approximately 5 miles southwest of the city center. The area is bounded by the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde and is accessible by road, primarily through the A739 and A814 routes.

Historically, the neighborhood has been associated with the Woodend Street housing scheme, a social housing complex erected in the early 20th century. During the 1960s and 1970s, comprehensive renewal initiatives aimed to revitalize the area, which had come to be seen as blighted by the authorities. The Glasgow City Council approved the construction of new housing and commercial developments to enhance the vicinity's appeal and alleviate urban decay.

The local economy is characterized by small-scale retail and community-focused businesses. The neighborhood features a mix of private and social housing, along with related community facilities such as schools, parks, and a local community center offering social services and amenities.
