Winterton

Winterton is a village and civil parish located in the county of Lincolnshire, England. It lies approximately 6 miles northeast of Scunthorpe and 8 miles west of Grimsby. The village is situated within the North East Lincolnshire unitary authority.

Historically, Winterton has been a rural settlement. Its name is believed to derive from Old English, possibly meaning "Wint(h)er's farmstead" or "farmstead in winter". Archaeological evidence suggests a Roman presence in the area, with finds of Roman pottery and coins. The village church, All Saints' Church, has a history stretching back centuries, though it has undergone significant rebuilding and alteration over time.
