Wilmslow

Wilmslow is a town and civil parish in the Cheshire East unitary authority area of Cheshire, England. It lies on the River Bollin, about 11 miles south of Manchester and a short distance east of Alderley Edge on the northern Cheshire Plain. The town is served by Wilmslow railway station on the Crewe–Manchester line, and is connected by road to the M56 and A34.

Wilmslow has medieval origins and developed as a rural settlement before expanding in the 19th century after the arrival of the railway and more recently as a commuter town for Manchester. The town grew to include a busy High Street with independent shops and services.

Key green space is The Carrs, a large park along the River Bollin used for recreation. Wilmslow also has educational facilities including Wilmslow High School and several primary schools. The town retains a mix of traditional and modern housing and is known for its relatively affluent property market compared with regional averages.

Governance is provided by Cheshire East Council as the unitary authority; Wilmslow is a civil parish within that area. Local culture includes libraries and community facilities, and the town acts as a service and employment hub for surrounding settlements.
