Practices include regular backups, versioning, integrity checks, and tested recovery procedures. Challenges include data corruption, encryption, obsolescence of storage formats, and compliance with privacy regulations.

In daily language, the term may describe medical rehabilitation or social reintegration efforts after injury or conflict, aiming to restore function, health, or social participation.
