Wf1

Wf1 is a star located in the constellation Ursa Major. It is a white dwarf star, the remnant core of a star that has exhausted its nuclear fuel. Wf1 is estimated to be about 11 billion years old and has a mass approximately 0.6 times that of the Sun. Its surface temperature is around 10,000 Kelvin.

This star was discovered in 1944 by astronomers Willem J. Luyten and Clyde Tombaugh. Wf1 is notable for its relatively low luminosity for a white dwarf, suggesting it may have a cooler than average interior or be obscured by dust. Its precise distance from Earth is still debated, with estimates ranging from 150 to 250 light-years.

Wf1 is part of a binary system. Its companion star is believed to be a red dwarf, though it has not been directly observed. The gravitational interaction between Wf1 and its companion is thought to be responsible for Wf1's peculiar motion through space.
